The Lost Library
Primitive forms of Chinese characters were scratched into live bamboo plants from as early as the 15th century BC. And, despite being the fastest growing plant on earth, once carved upon, the bamboo never heals. Examples of these carvings remain on bone and bronze artefacts, yet the centuries of writings etched into the living forest have vanished as generations of trees have died. A lost, organic library.
